Reviews Coming Soon

Folks, hang in there – reviews coming soon. I’ve been sick as a dog for the last week and that’s put my tasting on hiatus for a bit. Sip one for me!

Cheers!

    Get well soon Jason.

To a speedy recovery. Tipping back some Parker’s Heritage (cognac finished) in your honor.

  4. AaronWF says:

Hope you get right quick Jason. I recently had a nasty head cold followed closely by the worst stomach bug I’ve had in a decade or two. Take your time and wait until you’re up to snuff to catch up!

  5. Rich Ford says:

Hope you feel better soon, bud. Looking forward to new posts when you are recovered.

  6. Andrew says:

Perhaps now would be the best time to test some of those very, very low shelf products… or that Red Stag. :-p Get well soon.

  7. Texas says:

    Get well soon!

  8. lastcoyote says:

Get well soon Jason. I’ll stick my nose in some PVW 15 tonight in your honour :)

  9. Tim Read says:

Yeah, this is a stellar time to kill off your Rebel Yell, Jason.

Get well soon – I had a run of it about a month ago and it was brutal.

  10. iskch1 says:

Get well & take it easy.

  11. Have you tried a hot toddy? I understand they make you feel better. Well – they sure make me feel better. I don’t know if they actually help you get better, though.

  12. Ray O says:

Looking forward to your next review when you get better. I’ve also experienced a cold recently and, by the way, found that a jigger of Elmer T Lee is an effective treatment for a sore throat. Cheers!

  13. JK says:

Ralfy indicated a while back that Aberlour A’bunadh had some medicinal, cold syrup nature to it (“cough mixture from heaven”) – in a good way. Have a dram and rest up !

  14. Dave says:

***So, what is vitamin “G” you ask?? GEORGE DICKEL #12!!!!***

Well I better come drink your neglected stash then….it so lonely.

  17. Dave and JK – good suggestions!

  18. Todd says:

Hope you are back to 100% soon. Probably going to hae a little EC 12 in your honor this evening.

  19. JWC says:

hope you feel better soon jason. have you had the vintage bourbon 17yo? some of the wheaters and ryes coming out with the willett label have also been very good.

  20. Rick J says:

JWC, I recently tried the 17 year Vintage Bourbon and think it’s very good. I would also be interested in Jason’s opinion once he is feeling better soon.

  21. JWC says:

Rick J, I agree with you about the current 17 yo Vintage Bourbon. Moreover, it is much easier to obtain (and a bit less expensive) than the BT 15 yo PVW. At least here in Texas.

  22. Bmac says:

@JWC – Where in Texas can it be found? In the Dallas area I have not seen it.

  23. David Markle says:

    Time for a Ralfy classic!

  24. JWC says:

Bmac, I have no idea about Dallas. Never set foot in a liquor store in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I got my bottles here in Houston and they’re still on the shelf.

  25. Chuck says:

Hope you’re doing okay, Jason. We’re all patiently waiting for your next review. Enjoy watching them very much.

  26. Chuck and all, thanks for the check ins. Sorry I’ve been absent. Had a bought of the flu that just absolutely killed me. My voice sounded like Nick Nolte for most of that time and any tasting and reviews were out of the question. That time then bled into a little golf adventure on the Oregon Coast. I’m back and ready to get cranking. Cheers!

  27. Nice David – next time I will give that one a try!!!

  28. JWC – been a while since I’ve had Vintage 17. ANd it was but only a sip. Should I go snag some?

  29. Rick J says:

Welcome back Jason – I would definitely run the Vintage 17 through its paces. I found the nose to be excellent and a nice finish, but admittedly I’m still learning. Also just ordered a bottle of the Jefferson Presidential 18 that I’m looking forward to trying. Have you had this one?

  30. JWC says:

Jason, I didn’t drink the Vintage 17 for years. I read on SB.com that recently, the Vintage 17 was changed to a wheater – I confirmed the same with the bourbon specialist at the big retailer here in Houston. If you can get it for around $50, I think it is worth it. Similar to Bernheim wheaters but at 17 yo AND (this second point is becoming increasingly important to me), you don’t have to run around like a chicken with its head chopped off trying to get a bottle (or two).

  31. Gary Partoyan says:

Jason, glad you are recovering. I really enjoy your posts and reviews. Any chance you will review/rate the Jefferson’s Presidential Select 17 and 18 year-old bourbons? I’m a great fan of Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve offerings, and I hear JPS 17/18 is from the same S-W makers. In any case, cheers to ya. Drink your bourbon.

  32. Jim K says:

Jason, could you please add Makers 46 to your list of upcoming reviews?

  33. Jim, Makers 46 has been done. Take a look on the right hand side under review categories and Makers Mark. Cheers!
